"Kurt and I would like to firstly say a huge thank you for taking us through the Hypnobirthing course and providing such great information and tools to assist us in experiencing a positive birth.
We both walked away from the course feeling more confident and ready for the birth.
It was great to learn how the mind and body works and to also understand how we are empowered to make this birthing experience our own and we know that we are making informed decisions that will be best for us and our baby.
We are definitely ready to utilise some of the tools that resonate with us most and have been practicing some of these tools since the class.
We would also like to say thank you for making the class so comfortable, it is always nerve wracking attending something so unknown and you made both of us feel welcome, safe to speak up and share our thoughts and experiences."

"It really helped me understand everything that birth brings and understand my options and how the body works.
This helped me strengthen my natural calm state leading up to and during the birth and it was a very positive experience for me.
I was more so going into myself, being quiet, not talking or moving much just concentrating. Deep constant breathing helped me immensely with pain in many ways."

"I think back to the early days of my pregnancy & feeling overwhelmed, scared, not sure who to turn to & ask for help.
I can't believe how well aligned everything has turned out to be. You have given me the confidence, reassurance & power. I now can't wait to meet my baby & to give birthing another go all thanks to you."

"The skills and knowledge we had from Hypnobirthing were incredibly helpful. We even had hospital staff comment on how calm we were and how well we coped during a very stressful time. Theo felt empowered to support me and ask all the right questions about medical intervention when I was unable to."

"We are definitely glad we did the hypnobirthing course with you.

It was vital in helping X (and me) to be informed about what we wanted and didn't want. X was comfortable and confident in taking charge with any decisions and the breathing exercises definitely helped me manage surges and get through the birth absolutely drug free and then have a physiological birth of the placenta.

We want to thank you for all the information and insight you provided to us during the course. I will recommend hypnobirthing to others in the future and I will definitely use the techniques in any future births I may have."

Olivia's birth story

I think my contractions started on Thursday night and I thought that they were just braxton-hicks because I had been enjoying relaxing on my 1st full week of maternity leave I'd convinced myself that baby was going to come late so I didn't pay much much attention to what was going on.

I felt pretty rough on Friday cause I didn't sleep well but still cleaned the house and did a small grocery shop that day. It wasn't until around 10:30pm that the surges started ramping up, becoming more consistent and developing a pattern!

I had been pacing around the house and standing in the shower for over an hour when Michael and I decided to call the hospital (I wasn't comfortable in any other position so I actually ended up being on my feet for nearly a full 12 hours by the time it was all over).

The midwife on the phone asked if we'd done any child birth education because it sounded like braxton-hicks and to just try get some sleep because bubs was likely another 2 weeks away, I was pretty tired and feeling a little stressed because if this was just the trial, how much worse was it going to get?!

I had the salt lamp on, affirmations on the walls, rebozo going, tens machine and surges of the sea playing which were helping while at home.

Michael called the hospital again an hour later to let them know that things hadn't settled and felt like things were getting more intense, as well we were unsure if I'd lost my mucus plug but were about 80% sure. They asked us to time the contractions both in and out of the shower and call back in 40 minutes to get a more clear assessment, during this time Michael made sure that car was packed, checked the hospital bags and made sure the cat had food in case we had to go, we'd be ready.

After the second call they said to come in for an assessment, while still maintaining my calm the idea of leaving the house made me nervous in case they said to go back home, as well every time I sat down it would bring on an intense surge and I just wanted to walk around - I left the house in Michaels T-shirt, an eye mask, headphones playing rainbow mist, the tens machine still going and a blanket for comfort. This helped maintain my calm the whole journey and when we got into the assessment room.

We had arrived at 3am and after not being able to get an accurate first read on bubs heart rate when monitoring me they had to keep us there a little longer which made me slightly physically uncomfortable but feeling more relaxed then at home because there was an idea that things were happening/ moving along - as per my preferences I wanted freedom of movement and minimal examination which was very respected, I asked them not to tell me how far along I was and if I had to go home to just tell me that.

The midwife came in at 5:40am to tell us that we were being admitted and I said to her "am I in labour?!" Haha I felt both relieved and excited, I still had the tens machine going and the rainbow mist track on REPEAT. They got us into a birthing suite by 6am and I jumped straight into the shower where I felt the most comfortable, Michael set up our affirmations around the room, had my phone on charge playing the track and a water bottle with hydrolyte in it all ready to go for me.

We found out after the birth that I was 5cm dilated when they admitted us!

Our midwife Nat was experienced in home birthing and we felt so calm and respected the whole way. I told her that our preferences were loose and that we were open to suggestions, she just looked at me and said "you've got this", she let us have a very mother/baby led birth and came in for minimal monitoring.

We also had Bec there with us who is a friend and student midwife.

I needed to have a blood test to test my platelet levels as they were low during my previous prenatal appointment, although Michael tried the glove of endorphins I lost my cool but was able to recentre myself using the bubble of comfort and anchor touch.

After a while I kept getting the urge to kneel or squat but every time I did it the surges came on fast and strong, I was so tired at this point and and asked for gas which helped heaps.

I had Michael pushing on my hips during surges which felt great, poor guy didn't even have time to get changed. He stood in the shower with me fully clothed and when he asked if he could leave me to go to the bathroom I said "you need to stay here and not move, wee right here I don't care just don't leave" haha poor guy he stood there for the longest time to be just what I needed.

Nat saw on our preferences that we wanted to try a birthing pool and asked Michael to suggest it as a way to get me off my feet and help with the urges, although I was nervous to move out of the shower I also needed to try something different so at 10am we moved into the birthing pool.

Rainbow mist still playing, and gas still going, I had Michael (now changed) in the water with me and Bec using the shower head on my back.

My feet were burning but I felt instant relief and was able to relax when I got into the pool, things moved pretty quickly from there. My membranes broke in the water and although being able to focus during this time I didn't really listen to my body when pushing, the baby doing the rock was annoying me and with 3 BIG pushes and a lot of tears baby Patrick was born at 10:59am.

Michael was able to feel his head, help bring him up out of the water and cut the cord.

It was such a beautiful experience, they let us stay calmly in the pool and have our time, we were so excited to meet our little boy after 9 months of preparation and not knowing the gender.

I birthed the placenta naturally 40 minutes after baby was born (on the toilet with an anchor touch) and Nat boxed it up for us to take home and plant! Patrick now has a dwarf lemon tree to grow up with.

The next part is pretty intense - I had obtained a second degree tear and post partum hemorage, losing 680ml of blood that they could count. Getting the stitches was actually worse than childbirth! They offered to take me into theatre if it was too intense but that meant time away from bub or the doctor said "give me 5 minutes and it'll be over" we stopped and started 3 times, I had the gas, Michael holding my hand and the midwife as well. Screaming and crying through the pain and fondal massages they gave me an injection to contract my uterus (with informed consent) to stop the bleeding.

A little while later before moving is to our room they gave me some food and the bleeding hadn't really slowed, they offered me another injection to bring on more intense contractions or to have an IV with something less intense but more effective (knowing I wanted freedom of movement they really broke down all my choices) they also had to test my haemoglobin and potentially give me an iron infusion given the blood loss so I opted for the IV although uncomfortable I appreciated being able to make the decision best for me.

Michael stayed in hospital with me that night and ducked home in the morning to prepare the house for our arrival (cooking, cleaning and setting up our space) - We were discharged the next day with Patrick feeding well and all observations getting the tick of approval.

We have been recovering well at home, I recommend to anyone having a baby to invest in their post partum care, I purchased the bubba bump post partum care kit, we did a fourth trimester workshop, we have hellofreah meals coming, we sent out a customised boundaries text from Tiny Hearts foundation to friends and family and we feel has made our transition into parenthood seamless.

We've been enjoying the magic of the newborn bubble and its been amazing navigating this time together.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU to you Jae for all of the wisdom, sharing and support you gave us during the classes, we feel that everything we learnt was super instrumental in the safe and positive birth of Patrick. Michael was perfectly calm, patient, kind and supportive during the whole pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond and he attributes that to the knowledge we learnt with you and the support of the hypnobirthing resources.

Thank you again.

Steffie's birth story

A week after our hypno class I was diagnosed with chloestatsis and due to medical reasons we need to be induced. We got to 36w5d and delivered at 37w.

I had our birth preferences all sorted and a emergency c-section preference just in case.

We had such a positive birth experience even though we were not able to achieve certain preferences. It was an extremely calm and relaxing labour. Unfortunately baby was posterior, OR and chin first. We required an emergency c-section and we were able to achieve so much on our preferences. My breathing techniques helped at every aspect from induction, labour, epidural and surgery.

I loved experiencing the labour aspect and due to the factors of Callan’s positioning I believe we would have had a magical vaginal birth. However, the c-section was an amazing experience as well and we have no trauma from our birth of our perfect little boy.

One of the most important parts to our birth experience. The education provided to Nathan as my birth advocate was incredible. He allowed me to be undisturbed and maintained strong communication with our midwife with our labour process. He knew when the right time was to intervene and communicate with me when we hit a certain point in the labour that medical intervention was required. Not only did the breathing techniques help me, they helped Nathan. He watched me go through the many stages which was a challenge for him to witness. We both wouldn’t have had the positive experience without attending the hypno class.

Our time with you truly prepared us for every outcome of our birth journey ✨

Thank you so much.

Jess's birth story

I woke up first thing last Friday to ruptured membranes - not what we were expecting at just over 37 weeks! The premature rupture of membranes (although luckily just at term) really threw a spanner in the works of our birth preferences, but we were still able to use so many of the skills and strategies we learnt with you. Unfortunately I went into a very slow, drawn out posterior labour from Saturday afternoon, and had to be fully induced/augmented on Sunday morning with synthetic oxytocin due to the time since rupturing the membranes. This also meant I had to be attached to antibiotics and fetal monitoring throughout the labour.

I was able to use a tens machine and make use of the Hypnobirthing breathing techniques and birthing positions - which were all incredible. Steve was also amazing, using a lot of the partner strategies, anchor points, trigger words, and working with our midwife to ensure I had everything I needed and could focus on my labour rather than what was going on around me. We had the most wonderful midwife supporting us throughout, who made us feel empowered, safe, and well-informed. She took the time to explain everything to us, provide us with our options at every stage, and inform us of all risks, benefits, evidence and alternative options.

Although not everything went to plan, and a lot of the choices I would have liked to make were taken away from me due to the circumstances of my labour, I was thrilled to have a normal vaginal delivery. Lily even managed to move from posterior to anterior position at the last minute, making the final stretch so much smoother and quicker. I really felt empowered and in control of my birth experience, which is entirely due to our Hypnobirthing classes together. Without the information and strategies you gave us, I would not have felt in control or empowered at any stage of my labour and birth so I’m really grateful we had the opportunity to learn from you.

Steve wants to express his gratitude for all we learnt from you. One huge takeaway for him was to actually watch the delivery - something he wouldn’t have thought possible before our classes. He felt amazing he could provide support and had a plan, tangible tools and strategies to improve our experience.

Both Steve and I are so grateful for our classes together and want to sincerely thank you for everything you’ve done for us. Our positive birthing experience would not have been possible without your help.

Hannah’s birth story
The Hypnobirthing course gave us the education and empowerment we needed to go into our birth with no fear, only with genuine excitement.

Josh and I completed the course when we were 35 weeks. The course gave us so much education and empowerment to decide and plan the birth we wanted and to ask questions along the way. It gave us the confidence to go into the birth with no fear, instead to be excited for what was going to take place for us.

With only 4 weeks between the course ending and our due date, we listened to the hypnobirthing tracks every day, one in the morning and one at bedtime. I found this so relaxing that it took me a while to not fall asleep every time it came on! We followed the birthing practice video most days which gave us so much confidence, lots of ideas for during labour and it continued our training in the breathing techniques and light touch.
